Empire Gym & Studios celebrates 10 Years: A Decade of Fitness and Community

On 1st May 2024, Empire Gym & Studios, based in a Nuneaton landmark building, is set to mark its 10th-year milestone with a week-long Birthday Bash from May 7 to May 11 and invites the Nuneaton & Bedworth and the local community to join their celebration and contribute to a charitable cause.


A journey through time: From nightclub to fitness hub

Empire Gym & Studios has evolved over the years, The building originally opened as The Empire Hall and Roller Skating Rink in 1909, It was converted to the Empire Theatre in 1910. By 1914 it had become a cinema called Vint’s Picturedrome and later became a warehouse, Closed for industrial use in the 1970’s, it became Raffles Nightclub, with part of the building in use as Madison Snooker Club, and also Liberty’s, Millennium, Liquid & Envy, to its current status as a thriving fitness hub. The building has a history dating back to possibly the late 1800s and holds nostalgic memories for many.


Honouring a cherished member: Supporting Prostate Cancer Awareness

As part of the 10th-year celebrations, Empire Gym & Studios dedicates the week to raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer, honouring the memory of cherished member Colin Edwards, who passed away in 2023. Guests are encouraged to contribute a £2.50 entry fee, with all proceeds going towards this important cause.


A Week of fitness and fun challenges

Throughout the celebratory week, Empire Gym & Studios will host fitness and fun challenges, offering an opportunity for the community to come together, support a worthy cause, and embrace a decade of health and wellness.


Empire Gym’s remarkable journey

Established in 2014 under the ownership of Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust, Empire Gym & Studios has been a pillar in the local community. With state-of-the-art equipment, Group Exercise classes, and dedicated trainers, the gym has played a vital role in enhancing the health and well-being of its members.


A testament to resilience

Despite facing challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and increasing competition, Empire Gym & Studios has stood resilient. The dedication to maintaining a high level of service has not only preserved jobs but has also contributed significantly to the health of the local community.

Addressing recent speculation, Empire Gym & Studios reassures its members of continued service at the current iconic building. While discussions of a potential move persist, the gym remains committed to delivering an exceptional fitness experience to both existing and new members.
