Curriculum Support & Early Intervention
Alternative Provision (AP)
Helping Young People Thrive Beyond The Classroom
Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust (NBLT) is a not-for-profit organisation and registered charity that aspires to improve people’s quality of life, health, and well-being through leisure, fitness, and activities that are accessible to all.
Our Services
Our trained team, have a wealth of experience which aids them in delivering early intervention to prevent exclusions for both Primary & Secondary School aged Children. We also work with excluded pupils providing them with the tools that young people need to succeed- both in and out of School. We are accredited with Warwickshire County Council.
With considerable experience working with young people, we understand that more and more children struggle in mainstream school and that the feelings of loneliness, confusion, and frustration often manifest as anger and other forms of unacceptable behaviour locking the students in a never-ending cycle that can often lead to permanent exclusion.
We work with schools to offer a flexible approach to suit the student's needs from the students attending mornings, afternoons, or full days.
We have a large outdoor area and Gym on site so students can attend the gym as part of the provision and complete tasks from the Sports and Fitness Short course booklet.

AP is located in Keresley
Our Objectives
Our objectives under Alternative Provision (AP) are to support the development of the individual student, by:
• Treating the cause, not the symptoms
• Improve behaviour, attendance, and attitude to learning
• Identify positive destinations
• Reintegrate into school educational progress and attainment
• Support the family of each child
We offer an initial assessment with the partners to ensure that all aspects of the student’s life are examined to enable a holistic approach to be developed. Following this, a dedicated key worker will work intensively with the student on all related and identified issues creating a range of support. Most importantly we will agree on a contract outlining the expectations, detailing the support provided and the consequences that both the student and key worker will sign.
Support will be personalised and delivered on a one-to-one basis but can be adapted to work with groups of students if required by the school or student. We can work within the school/ academy/college or at our dedicated learning centre.
FAQ's
“Who is alternative provision suitable for?”
Alternative Provision is suitable for any student who struggles to access traditional, mainstream education and would benefit from a holistic, tailored approach to their education. Commissioners may use AP to support with meeting EHCP needs or to prevent a Permanent Exclusion from mainstream education.
“Can ASDAN courses help excluded students?”
ASDAN supports student who have been excluded from mainstream education as it is a coursework based qualification in which students can access work at their own pace and can be supported by tutors to ensure a sound knowledge of the tasks being completed.
“What age groups do you support?”
We support students from Year 1 - Year 11, with completely separate facilities for Primary and Secondary students.
“Do you work with schools directly?
Yes, schools can commission AP places directly with us, they can contact us on ap@nbleisuretrust.org and we can send them all the necessary information to enrol a new student. We can also offer our 1-1 IGNITE Programme directly in primary schools rather than at our own site.
