Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust has benefitted in this latest round of funding
Leisure Trust has once again been awarded funding from Children in Need with a three-year grant between 1st September 2019 through to 31st August 2022, of £99,998 to provide a range of sport activities to children and young people with physical and learning disabilities in Nuneaton and Bedworth. Through the programme of support, the project aims to increase the young people’s physical activity levels whilst developing their communication skills and increasing their confidence and wellbeing.
This continues and build upon the excellent work done in recent years.
Robbie Barton, Schools & Sporting Services Manager at Leisure Trust said of the funding award: “Disabled children and young people often face barriers that reduce their opportunities to engage in regular, fun, physical, and social activities with friends and families. This lack of engagement can have a negative impact on their physical health, but it can also have a dramatic effect of their mental wellbeing, creating a lonely and isolating experience.
“This funding will allow us to provide opportunities for the young people we support to have fun, socialise and make friends, all very simple things that made a massive difference to their overall wellbeing, so a massive thank you to BBC Children in Need for their support.”
Services for children with disabilities, including football, play, stay and play, Bikeability and sports. Sessions run all year round.
