Nuneaton’s Pingles Leisure Centre has seen mayor development works over the last few months with its gym doubling in size, new equipment, new changing facilities, a studio extension, new fast track access and reception, a class timetable overhaul and a new café extension! To celebrate this and showcase the facilities improvements Nuneaton & Bedworth Leisure Trust (NBLT) decided to give everyone a chance to join in for FREE! The Pingles Health, Fitness & Family Fun Expo was a great success.
The work was due to the sites ever growing popularity, Jon Russell, NBLT Chief Executive is pleased with the investment… “Pingles has always been a popular site and we needed to make sure all of our customers could continue to benefit from its state of the art facilities. The development project means exactly that and I am very pleased with the results. The day was enjoyed by all and we hope to repeat it in the future”
The Mayor of Nuneaton & Bedworth Councillor Neil Philips and Mayoress Ms Caroline Taylor along side Janet Stubbs, Chair of NBLT and Councillor Dennis Harvey Leader of the council kick started the FREE Open Day with an Official opening at 10am before taking a tour of the new facility and having a go on some of the latest fitness tech!
The day included FREE swimming, pool fun and gym for everyone, competitions and free prize draws, free class tasters, free food from the NEW Loafers Café and one day special offers on everything the site has to offer.
Children enjoyed FREE inflatable sessions, Water Walkerz sessions and even got entertained by TRUNZ the ASA's very own swimming elephant who was on site promoting the Big Splash Swimathon.
The mayor firmly embraced the healthy lives, fitter futures initiative… “ it was a fascinating day, the whole set up is first class. Since giving up smoking I thought this was an ideal opportunity to build on that and improve my fitness levels and overall well being. The refurbishment of the gym and professional advice from staff who were very helpful, convinced the mayor, the least likely gym person, that the opportunity to swim, gym, and take part in classes of my choice to sign up and take advantage of the facilities, so here goes”
With 2012 being a leap year the idea was to give that extra day back to the public for FREE. NBLT asked all visitors of the day to dig deep if they could for the mayors local charity with collections buckets rattling all day. Prizes given out on the day included a bike, a years free gym use and swimming lessons!
We look forward to seeing everyone who visited on the day (including our newly inspired mayor) soon!
